Kazakhstan ships 10 mln tonnes of oil to Germany in 2025, ready to continue - Kazakh president

ASTANA. Sept 29 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan shipped more than 10 million tonnes of oil to Germany last year and is ready to continue supplying given the country's transport capacity, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.

"Our oil supplies to Germany exceeded 10 million tonnes in 2025. We are ready to continue responsibly fulfilling the mission given our existing transport capabilities," Tokayev wrote in an article for the German newspaper Handelsblatt.

The article was published as part of Tokayev's official visit to Germany, where he arrived Monday.

As reported, Kazakhstan shipped 2.1 million tonnes of oil to the Schwedt refinery in Germany via the Druzhba pipeline in 2025. Kazakhstan had planned to export about 3 million tonnes via the route in 2026. However, Russia suspended transit of Kazakh oil via the Druzhba system to Germany in May this year.

Kazakhstan shipped 1.02 million tonnes of oil to Germany via Druzhba in January-April 2026. Kazakh Energy Minister Erlan Akkenzhenov said that supplies via the route would not resume within the next three months of September, October, and November.

Kazakhstan rerouted oil supplies in May to alternative routes, specifically to the port of Ust-Luga on the Baltic Sea and into the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) system owing to the suspension of pumping via the Druzhba system.
