Uzbekistan, China's CRRC to set up freight car production, open service center
TASHKENT. Sept 29 (Interfax) - Uzbekistan Railways and China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation (CRRC) plan to set up production of freight cars, Uzbekistan's Transport Ministry reported.
An Uzbekistan Railways delegation held negotiations with the Chinese state company in Berlin on the sidelines of the InnoTrans-2026 international transport technology fair.
They discussed "the creation of a service center for maintenance and repair of locomotives, as well as production of modern freight cars," the ministry said.
The delegation also considered purchases of high-speed electric trains from South Korea's Hyundai Rotem, and discussed cooperation with Serbian Railways Zeleznica Srbijeand and Germany's Deutsche Bahn, as well as with China's Huawei and other leading companies in the area of railway infrastructure modernization and rollout of digital technologies, the ministry said.
