New composition of Russia-Belarus Union State Parliamentary Assembly to contribute to fulfilling vast integration agenda - Lukashenko

MINSK. Sept 21 (Interfax) - Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, speaking on behalf of the people of Belarus and on his own behalf, congratulated Russian President Vladimir Putin on the success of Russia's Unified Voting Day.

"The unprecedented turnout of millions of voters and the constitutional majority won by the United Russia party in the State Duma came as a worthy response to cynical attempts from outside to discredit the campaign and split Russia's united society," Lukashenko said in his message published by the Belarusian presidential press service on Monday.

The election results "convincingly demonstrate Russian citizens' support for the policy of Vladimir Putin towards the steady development of Russia confident in its strength and open to partnerships and cooperation," he said.

"I am convinced that the new composition of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia, the elected senior officials of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, and MPs at all levels will make a significant contribution to Union State building and to the implementation of our large-scale integration agenda," Lukashenko said, wishing Putin "the fulfillment of all his good intentions for the glory of the Fatherland."
