Tajikistan commissions Adrasmon MPP with participation of Chinese investor

DUSHANBE. Sept 21 (Interfax) - The Adrasmon Mining and Processing Plant (MPP) for processing lead-silver ore, which had been idle since 2013, has been commissioned, the press service of Tajik President Emomali Rahmon said.

President Rahmon took part in the ceremony for launching the enterprise.

"The annual capacity for extracting lead-silver ore [at the Vostochny and West Konimansur deposits, on the basis of which the MPP operates] is 2 million tonnes, and according to the design indicators, its production of up to 200 tonnes of silver and 20,000 tonnes of lead is envisaged," the press service said.

Over a year and a half, the MPP was completely rebuilt and equipped with Swedish, Finnish and Chinese equipment, the press service said.

The project was implemented as part of an investment agreement concluded in July 2025 between the Tajik government and the Chinese company Ya Sin.

The enterprise currently operates three crushing shops, a grinding shop, a flotation department, compaction equipment and industrial filter presses. The work on adjusting and commissioning the equipment has been completed, and trial production of the main product (lead-silver concentrate) has begun. Around 1,000 employees currently work at the enterprise.

The Adrasmon MPP ceased operations in June 2013 due to a drop in silver prices on the world market. The company was declared bankrupt and in 2017 was transferred to the Tajik state's ownership.
