Central Bank of Russia starting to disclose anonymous data on contracts with derivative instruments in OTC trading, will expand data published in future
MOSCOW. Sept 17 (Interfax) - The Central Bank of Russia is starting to publish anonymous data on contracts with derivative financial instruments signed in over-the-counter (OTC) trading, and these statistics will encompass forward contracts on equity and debt instruments and indices as well as interest rate swaps and cross-currency interest rate swaps, the CBR said in a statement.
The bank said that the publication of these data would "increase transparency in the most closed segment of the financial market". Detailed information will help market participants to build more precise forecast models and manage their risks more effectively, the bank said.
Before, only aggregated indicators of the amount and volume of contracts signed were available for everyone to see; now, market participants will receive information on every deal with all of the key terms - for example, which assets were included in a forward contract and their value, payment methods and which type of rate - floating or fixed - is used in interest rate swaps. The parties to the contracts are not disclosed.
The first data cover the period from January 1 to August 28, 2026. They are based on information received from market participants themselves.
The CBR will update the indicators every Tuesday, with a lag of seven calendar days. In future, it plans to expand the data it publishes on deals on the OTC market.
