Russia's BurService working on entering Central Asian markets, holding talks on more distant markets

TYUMEN. Sept 16 (Interfax) - The oilfield service company BurService is actively working on entering the markets of Central Asia, its general director Ilya Pinigin told Interfax on the sidelines of the TNF Industrial and Energy Forum 2026.

"We are considering entering any friendly countries that are engaged in oil and gas, and where the local infrastructure of service companies is weak, so to speak - that means Africa, partly South America and Asia. So far there is progress only in the CIS [the Commonwealth of Independent States] - Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, a small part of Kazakhstan. As regards more distant markets, so far everything is at the stage of negotiations," he said.

The Tyumen Oil and Gas Cluster is holding negotiations with some governments of Arab countries, Pinigin said. "They have a pool of suppliers that they offer, including us. We are not holding negotiations directly," he said.

However, the prospect of entering the markets of Arab countries will become tangible only when the Hormuz crisis ends, he said. "Right now, they have big problems themselves; they have nowhere to sell oil. They are stopping drilling. Accordingly, when all this ends, they will return to dialogue. Right now, they are in shock, they have a bit more on their minds right now than service," he said.

During a tour of the exhibition by Industry and Trade Minister Anton Alikhanov, Pinigin recalled that BurService Group includes the oilfield service company of the same name, the drilling equipment plant Ufaburmash, and the drilling company NDK. "So today, we fully provide ourselves with equipment for downhole operations; we have drilling rigs, we have begun providing turnkey well drilling services. Our big dream is turnkey fields, we see great synergy in this in terms of personnel, in terms of costs, and an increase in the efficiency of field development as a whole," he said.

BurService is one of the largest oilfield service contractors in Russia, which became the successor to the Russian assets of Halliburton. The company specializes in providing services in the field of drilling and development of oil and gas fields, and unites production bases in eight regions of the country.
