Russia boosts revenue from sunflower exports to India 34.7% to almost $1.2 bln in Jan-July

MOSCOW. Sept 16 (Interfax) - Russia earned revenue of $1.17 billion from sunflower oil exports to India in January-July 2026, up 34.7% from $868.8 million a year previously, the Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry said in a publication.

Export revenue more than doubled from $54.1 million in June to $120.2 million in July.

In weight terms, shipments rose to 859,000 tonnes in the first seven months, versus 730,400 tonnes a year before. In July, exports totaled 85,600 tonnes versus 45,100 tonnes a year earlier.

Russia also exports soybean oil to India. These exports totaled 39,100 tonnes for $47.8 million in 7M 2026, compared with 122,600 tonnes for $133.3 million in 7M 2025.

Russia is India's biggest supplier of sunflower oil and makes up a large share of India's imports of this product. The second biggest supplier is Argentina.

As reported, Russia exported 1.298 million tonnes of sunflower oil to India in 2025, a third less than 1.923 million tonnes in 2024. Export revenue fell to $1.57 billion from $1.89 billion in 2024.

India imported a total of 2.89 million tonnes of sunflower oil for $3.46 billion in 2025, compared with 3.74 million tonnes for $3.7 billion in 2024.
