Tajikistan plans to collaborate with South Korean LS MnM in mineral processing

DUSHANBE. Sept 16 (Interfax) - Tajikistan's Ministry of Industry and New Technologies and South Korean company LS MnM Inc. have signed a memorandum of cooperation, pledging to partner in the field of mineral feedstock and processing, the Tajik ministry's press service reported.

The document was signed during a working visit of Tajik Minister of Industry and New Technologies Sherali Kabir to South Korea. The minister met with the management of LS MnM in Seoul.

The parties discussed prospects for attracting investments in the development of Tajikistan's mining sector, expanding advanced processing of raw materials and producing high value-added products.

In particular, the discussion focused on the gradual implementation of joint projects, exchanging information and developing business cooperation in related processing fields.

According to the memorandum, the parties plan to jointly study and develop investment initiatives for Tajikistan's mining industry, develop the production of high value-added products and master new forms of processing.

They also plan to gradually create the necessary trade and operating mechanisms to implement specific projects.

The press release says that the memorandum is aimed at developing the industrial and investment partnership between Tajikistan and South Korea, in areas such as strategically important minerals, the integration of cutting-edge technologies, the processing of raw materials and the production of high value-added products.

LS MnM is part of South Korea's LS Group and specializes in smelting and refining non-ferrous metals, as well as producing metals and industrial materials. Its product range includes high-conductivity copper, precious and rare metals and materials for use in the battery and semiconductor industry.
