Industrial robotics program to be developed in EAEU

MINSK. Sept 9 (Interfax) - The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) together with the states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) is considering an initiative to develop an Industrial Robotics interstate program, the deputy director of the EEC's Industrial Policy Department Vitaly Vovk said.

"Implementing this program can give an impetus to the development of cooperation in industrial robotics. In essence, the foundation is being laid for the creation of an entire sub-sector of mechanical engineering. It is very important to form a corresponding market in the countries of the Eurasian five [the member states] through a comprehensive set of support measures," Vovk was quoted by the EEC press service as saying.

The initiative to develop an interstate program provides for the creation of centers for developing industrial robotics and enterprises for producing robots and components for them within the EAEU countries, he said.

"The result of implementing the interstate program should be the equipping of union enterprises with 9,000 industrial robots produced within the EAEU. This will cover approximately 10% of the need for them in production," the press service said.
