Russia's Promomed to launch flagship drug on Kazakh market
MOSCOW. Sept 9 (Interfax) - The Kazakh Health Ministry has issued a registration certificate for a medicinal product with the international non-proprietary name (INN) tirzepatide, used in the treatment of type II diabetes mellitus and obesity, to Russia's Promomed .
"In the near future, Tirzetta will appear on the Kazakh market. Our drug will become the first officially available drug with this active substance in the country," the company's press service said.
There is demand in Kazakhstan for the treatment of these diseases, the press service said. According to WHO data for 2024, 56% of the country's adult population are overweight, while globally the share reaches 45%.
The drug Tirzetta is the flagship in Promomed's portfolio. According to DSM Group, it is the best-selling drug in Russian pharmacies in 2026, with its share in sales of all tirzepatide-based drugs at 70% in the first half of the year.
It was previously reported that Promomed Group had established Promomed-Pharma LLP in Kazakhstan to promote products in foreign markets. The company's general director Alexander Yefremov shared a forecast in an interview with Interfax that the share of exports in Promomed's revenue will be around 5% by the end of 2026.
PJSC Promomed consolidates Promomed RUS LLC (the company's R&D center), Promomed DM LLC (sales and bond issuer) and the production site of JSC Biochemist . PJSC Promomed held an IPO in July 2024, with the placement amounting to around 6 billion rubles.
