Russian-Vietnamese school to open in Hanoi center - Russian deputy PM

MOSCOW. Sept 8 (Interfax) - A Russian-Vietnamese school will be built in the very heart of Vietnam's capital and issue Vietnamese and Russian education certificates, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko said.

"Vietnam loves the Russian language, and the Pushkin Russian Language Center, where Vietnamese children are studying Russian, has been effective. So, a decision has been made to build a Russian-Vietnamese school in Hanoi on the former site of the Soviet Technical Center. A modern general-education school will be built in the very heart of Hanoi and issue Vietnamese and Russian education certificates," Chernyshenko told the media on Tuesday after a meeting of Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and Vietnamese President To Lam.

Over 500 agreements have been signed between scientific and educational establishments of Russia and Vietnam, he said.

Students from Vietnam constitute the biggest share of international students in Russia, there are about 3,000 of them, Chernyshenko said.

"A textbook is being written to teach the Russian language in Vietnamese schools," Russian Education Minister Sergei Kravtsov said for his part in an interview with the Vesti news service. "We are sending pedagogues to Vietnam to teach the Russian language," he said.

Chernyshenko, To Lam, his spouse Ngo Phuong Ly, Russian Culture Minister Olga Lyubimova, and Gerasimov Russian State University of Cinematography Rector Vladimir Malyshev attended a ceremony opening the Ngo Manh Lan Russian-Vietnamese Heritage Hall at the Russian State University of Cinematography on Tuesday, Chernyshenko's press service told Interfax.

"It is dedicated to remarkable artist, animation director Ngo Manh Lan, a graduate of the university. It is a great joy for all of us that the premier training ground for Russian filmmakers now has a space dedicated to the rich creative legacy of the People's Artist of Vietnam," Chernyshenko said.

To Lam wished the Vietnamese-Russian "strategic partnership the continuous, profound and sustainable development."
