Russian National Wealth Fund grows 474 bln rubles in Aug to 13.2 trln rubles, liquid assets 1.7% of GDP - MinFin

MOSCOW. Sept 7 (Interfax) - The Russian National Wealth Fund (NWF) grew by 474.03 billion rubles in August after falling by 383.3 billion rubles in July, according to data published on the Finance Ministry website.

The NWF amounted to 13.195 trillion rubles, equivalent to $154.145 billion, or 5.6% of GDP as of September 1. A month earlier, it was 12.721 trillion rubles, equivalent to $159.295 billion or 5.4% of GDP.

The NWF's liquid assets were 3.998 trillion rubles, or $46.705 billion, as of September 1, and 1.7% of forecast GDP for the year, compared with 3.693 trillion rubles or $46.242 billion and 1.6% of GDP a month previously.

Yuan holdings decreased to CNY 189.996 billion on September 1 from CNY 189.68 billion on August 1, and unallocated gold rose to 131.488 tonnes from 141.242 tonnes the previous month.

NWF accounts also held 1.682 billion rubles on September 1.

Total estimated income from NWF funds deposited in foreign currency accounts with the Bank of Russia, converted into dollars, from December 15, 2025 to August 31, 2026, was $70.8 million, equivalent to 6.061 billion rubles.

Exchange rate differences on NWF forex assets and revaluation of its gold investments totaled 594.786 billion rubles in the period from January 1 to August 31. This included 297.254 billion rubles on the revaluation of forex, 245.838 billion rubles on the revaluation of gold, 22.122 billion rubles on Ukrainian Eurobonds and 29.572 billion rubles on forex-denominated securities of Russian issuers.

The federal budget in August received 425.086 billion rubles, equivalent to $5.126 billion, from NWF funds invested in ordinary shares of Sberbank , 36.507 billion rubles, equivalent to $438 million, from VTB shares, 24.159 billion rubles, equivalent to $289.8 million, from DOM.RF shares and 12.509 billion rubles, or $150.1 million, from Aeroflot shares.
