Russia's money supply rises 1.2% in Aug, annual rate declines to 12.9% - Central Bank
MOSCOW. Sept 4 (Interfax) - Russia's M2 money supply rose 1.2% to 137.3 trillion rubles in August 2026, after growing 0.6% in July, according to information posted on the Central Bank of Russia's website.
The annual growth rate of the money supply decreased to 12.9% by September 1, from 13.0% on August 1.
The broad money supply, excluding forex revaluation, increased 1.2% in August after rising 0.5% in July. The annual growth rate had decreased to 12.4% as of September 1 from 12.6% on August 1.
The monthly growth rate of cash in circulation (M0) slowed to 1.9% in August from 2.9% in July. In August, as in February-July, it exceeded the growth rate of households' time ruble deposits.
The annual growth rate of cash as of September 1 increased to 20.9% from 20.2% as of August 1.
The contribution of ruble deposits of organizations to the annual growth rate of the M2X broad money supply in August amounted to 4.7 percentage points (pp) after 4.6 pp in July, and was greater than the contribution of households' ruble deposits.
The contribution of cash (M0) to the dynamics of the M2X money supply in August remained at the level of the previous month (2.7 pp). The share of M0 in the ruble money supply increased to 15.1% from 15.0% a month earlier.
M2 money supply includes M1 money supply - cash in circulation outside the banking system and M0 money supply; and balances in the national currency on settlement, current, and other call accounts held by private individuals; and in accounts of non-financial and financial except lending organizations that are residents of the Russian Federation; and balances in the national currency on the accounts of fixed-term deposits and other funds attracted for a fixed period from individuals; and in the accounts of non-financial and financial except lending organizations that are residents of the Russian Federation.
The broad money supply includes, along with the M2X aggregate, all types of foreign currency deposits, deposit and savings certificates.
