Sberbank to create provisions for loans to marketplaces, but this will not prevent bank from earning record profit in 2026 - Gref

VLADIVOSTOK. Sept 3 (Interfax) - Sberbank will create provisions due to the situation with marketplaces and sellers, but this will not affect the record profit of 2026, the head of the bank Herman Gref said.

"Provisioning will take place, of course, but I can say unequivocally (despite our invariable caution regarding any forecasts) that this will not affect the record profit for this year," Gref told journalists on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum.

Sberbank views the authorities' measures to support marketplaces and sellers positively and accompanies them with its own support measures, he said.

"Together with the marketplaces, we are discussing and implementing a whole program for their support in conditions where they have large capacity outages. This is a big problem. And it seems to me that the government is acting rationally and correctly in this situation. People need to be helped in such situations. We will also do our utmost to help Wildberries and Ozon so that they maintain stability, and of course, all sellers, everyone who has suffered and whose goods have been lost - we are creating separate support programs for them, all of this is already available and will be developed further," Gref said.
