Russian GDP grows 0.6% in H1 2026 - Rosstat

MOSCOW. Sept 2 (Interfax) - Russian GDP grew an estimated 0.6% year-on-year in the first half of 2026, the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) said.

Rosstat said in the middle of August in a first estimate that GDP grew 1.3% in Q2 after falling 0.2% in Q1 2026.

In May, the Russian Economic Development Ministry lowered its forecast for Russian GDP growth in 2026 to 0.4% from 1.3% in the September 2025 version of the forecast. Russian GDP could grow 0.6% in 2026, Economic Development Minister Maxim Reshetnikov said at the Eastern Economic Forum on Wednesday. The ministry will present an updated macro forecast in the middle of September.

In July, the Central Bank of Russia lowered its forecast for Russian economic growth in 2026 to 0.0%-1.0% from 0.5%-1.5% in the previous, April version.

Analysts surveyed by Interfax in early August forecast GDP growth in 2026 at 0.5% - the forecast was down from 0.7% in the survey a month earlier.
