Situation with jet fuel in Russia not ideal, but issues with fuel supply for companies being resolved promptly - transport minister

VLADIVOSTOK. Sept 2 (Interfax) - The current situation with jet fuel in Russia is not ideal, but all difficulties with fuel supply for carriers are being resolved promptly, Transport Minister Andrei Nikitin said.

"It is, let's say, not ideal, but it is a working situation. We see jet fuel reserves, and these reserves appear in airports in a timely manner," Nikitin told journalists at the Eastern Economic Forum.

"That is, of course, difficulties exist and may arise. But I want to say again that thanks to coordinated joint work [with the Energy Ministry], these problems are being resolved promptly. Airlines are provided with fuel," he said.

The Russian government introduced a temporary ban on jet fuel exports from June 1. The restrictions will be in effect for five months until November 30. The purpose of the decision is "to ensure a stable situation in the domestic fuel market," the government's press service said. At the same time, the Transport Ministry has repeatedly said that there is no shortage of jet fuel in the country.
