Investments will continue to make up near-record share of Russia's GDP in 2026 - Tremasov

VLADIVOSTOK. Sept 1 (Interfax) - The share of investments in Russia's GDP will remain close to the all-time record in 2026, Advisor to the Central Bank of Russia Governor Kirill Tremasov said.

"The fourth quarter is always the deciding one for investment dynamics. With the picture that we are seeing, I think that investments in fixed assets this year will remain close to their all-time high, so around 19.5%-20% of GDP - what we have had for the last three years. In real terms, yes, there is a decline, precisely because of the high rate of price growth for investment goods and services," Tremasov said at the Eastern Economic Forum.

"For the first half of the year, investments in fixed assets grew by approximately 2% year-on-year, somewhere just over 16 trillion rubles. These are nominal investments," he said.

"The high growth in prices of investment goods and services has mostly eaten up the real growth of investments," Tremasov said. "Therefore, in real terms, Rosstat says, we got negative 9.9%. But as a share of GDP, nominal investments remain at roughly the same level as last year. In the first half of last year, investments in fixed assets made up 18.3% of GDP. It was even slightly above this in the first half of this year - 18.4% of GDP."

He said that price stability was the basis of stable growth in investments.

"As I see it, one very important point is that without going back to price stability, without consolidating price stability, it will be difficult for us to maintain high investment activity in the economy," Tremasov said.
