Lukoil launches production of lubricants, antifreeze in Volgograd

MOSCOW. Aug 27 (Interfax) - Lukoil has completed a project in Volgograd to produce 70,000 tons of greases, cutting fluids, and antifreeze per year, the company said.

According to a press release, the project plans to produce over 230 products in demand in the mining, metalworking, mechanical engineering, transport, and industrial equipment maintenance industries.

The facility features robotic warehouse storage, self-cleaning pipelines, and a mechanized bulk component unloading system. A cascade technology has been implemented for lubricant production, improving efficiency and product quality, Lukoil said.

The investment project is being implemented using state support mechanisms (special investment contract (SPIC).

It was previously reported that the cost of this project was estimated at over $1 billion.

Lukoil's lubricants business previously comprised nine of its own facilities, two joint ventures, and 25 outsourced plants, including some located abroad. The Russian facilities include full-cycle lubricant production at the Perm and Volgograd refineries, as well as lubricant blending at plants in Tyumen and Torzhok. The company produces approximately 800 types of lubricants.
