Russian insurers see net profit drop 28.4% to 206.5 bln rubles in H1 2026 - Central Bank

MOSCOW. Aug 21 (Interfax) - Russian insurers saw net profit drop 28.4% year-on-year to 206.5 billion rubles in H1 2026, the Central Bank posted on Friday in its Review of Key Performance Indicators for Insurers for the first half of the year.

"The decline in profit was owing to a downturn in insurance results, as driven by the non-life insurance segment, on the back of rising losses at certain non-life insurers. Investment results also declined owing to the negative revaluation of financial instruments amid deteriorating debt market dynamics," the Central Bank said.

Profitability on the insurance market declined to 6.2% in H1 from 9% the previous year, and return on equity dropped to 21.2% from 32.4%, respectively.

Russia's insurance market dropped by one participant to 129 in Q2, and the number of mutual insurance companies declined by two to nine. The concentration of the Russian insurance market was virtually unchanged. The share of the top 20 insurers by premium volume was 90.3%.
