Iran's Golestan Province, Tajik Industry, New Technology Ministry sign memorandum of understanding on economic, industrial cooperation
DUSHANBE. Aug 21 (Interfax) - Iran's Golestan Province and Tajikistan's Ministry of Industry and New Technologies have signed a memorandum of understanding to expand economic, trade, industrial, agricultural and tourism cooperation, the Iranian embassy in Tajikistan said.
Golestan Province Governor Ali-Asghar Tahmasbi and Tajik Minister of Industry and New Technologies Sherali Kabir signed the document on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of the International Food Industry Forum.
In accordance with the memorandum, the parties agreed to expand bilateral ties in key areas, including agricultural and food processing, meat and dairy production, grain trade, and other areas of mutual interest.
Speaking at the opening of the forum, Tahmasbi declared Golestan's readiness to establish strategic cooperation and implement joint investment projects with Tajikistan in the food industry.
The governor noted the need to transition from traditional agricultural trade to joint investments and making more active use of the private sector's technical expertise.
He expressed his willingness to develop cooperation between Golestan and Tajikistan as a successful model for regional interaction in food security.
