Uzbekistan, Russia increases trade in agricultural products 31% in Jan-July 2026
TASHKENT. Aug 21 (Interfax) - Mutual trade in agricultural products between Uzbekistan and Russia amounted to $1.55 billion in January-July 2026, up 31.7% year-on-year, the Uzbek Agriculture Ministry said.
These figures were cited by the Uzbek Agriculture Minister Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov at a meeting with the head of Mordovia, Artem Zdunov.
"The parties considered the development of trade in agricultural and food products, the establishment of direct ties between enterprises of the two regions and the implementation of joint projects. Special attention was paid to increasing the practical return from previously reached agreements," the ministry said.
According to the ministry's information, trade in agricultural and food products between Uzbekistan and Russia continues to grow, reaching $2.3 billion in 2025 (+26.7% YoY).
"The meeting discussed opportunities for further increasing trade through projects involving enterprises in Mordovia. In particular, the discussion focused on sugar supplies, the promotion of Uzbek fruit and vegetable products in Russian retail chains and the establishment of direct contacts between food industry enterprises," the ministry said.
A separate area was cooperation with the enterprise Romodanovosakhar. The parties considered the possibility of increasing supplies of its products to the market of Uzbekistan.
In addition, representatives of Uzbekistan and Mordovia discussed cooperation in livestock farming. In particular, it is planned that the experience of the Russian region will be used in dairy and meat cattle breeding, increasing livestock productivity and introducing modern feeding technologies.
Following the talks, the participants emphasized the need to strengthen direct ties between enterprises of Uzbekistan and Mordovia and to translate the reached agreements into specific projects. The Uzbek Agriculture Ministry is ready to support initiatives of mutual interest, Abdurakhmonov said.
