Moscow Exchange to move start of main trading session for key markets to 9:00 a.m. Moscow time from Sept 14

MOSCOW. Aug 14 (Interfax) - The Moscow Exchange will begin the main trading session on the stock, futures, currency and precious metals markets at 9:00 a.m. Moscow time instead of 10:00 a.m. starting from September 14, the exchange said in a statement.

The calculation and publication of the exchange's main indices will also begin at 9:00 a.m.

According to the new trading rules for the stock market and futures market, morning trading will run from 6:50 to 9:00 a.m. Moscow time, the main session from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with the opening auction for securities not admitted to the morning session beginning at 9:00-9:10 a.m., and the evening session will be from 7:00 p.m. to 11:50 p.m.

Weekend trading will be from 9:50 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., as before.

The main session on the forex and precious metals market will run from 8:50 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. On the money market, the start of trading for two-sided repurchase agreements, deposits and loans will be moved to 8:30 a.m. from the current 9:30 a.m., and the main session will be from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

"We can see that a level of liquidity is already being created from 9:00 a.m. and a large number of investors are conducting transactions at this time, predominantly private individuals. A series of institutional investors and trading divisions are now only able to implement their strategies in the main session. After the change, they will be able to participate in trading from 9:00 a.m. at the same time as private investors. Moreover, clients in Siberia and the Far East will gain an additional hour to trade at a time which is comfortable for them," Boris Blokhin, the exchange's senior managing director for sales and business development, said at the Media Days seminar for journalists.
