Foreigners boost investment in Belarus' economy 19% in H1

MINSK. Aug 13 (Interfax) - Foreign entities, excluding banks, boosted investment in the Belarusian economy 19% year-on-year to $5 million in H1 2026 from $4.2 billion in H1 2025, according to the National Statistical Committee, Belstat.

FDI inflows also rose 19% year-on-year to $3.8 billion, with the share of total foreign investment remaining at last year's level of 75.3%.

Belarusian companies boosted foreign investment 44% year-on-year to $3.6 billion in H1. The share of direct investment dropped to 68.1% in the period from 74.9% the previous year.

Belstat has not disclosed the country breakdown of sources of foreign investment nor the destination countries of Belarusian investment since its 2024 reporting. Russia has traditionally remained the main source of foreign investment in Belarus.

Foreign investors invested $7.6 billion in the Belarusian economy in 2025 compared to $6.9 billion in 2024, $7.7 billion in 2023, $7 billion in 2022, $8.7 billion in 2021 and 2020, and $10 billion in 2019.
