Orsk refinery shut down after drone attack, repairs to take up to six months - governor

NIZHNY NOVGOROD. Aug 13 (Interfax) - Repairs to the Orsk refinery damaged by a drone attack could take up to six months, Orenburg Region Governor Yevgeny Solntsev posted on social media.

Solntsev said that the region would have to rely on imported fuel owing to damage to the Orsk refinery.

"The shrapnel hit key infrastructure, which cannot be restored at this time. The equipment is imported, and given the sanctions, repairs will take up to six months. The refinery has been completely shut down," Solntsev said.

Solntsev also said that logistics are already being reconfigured in the region.

"Of the 287 filling stations, 80% are operational. As a reminder, special transport is the priority today," he said.

As reported, citing the governor, Orsk was attacked by a drone on Thursday.

Orsknefteorgsintez is ForteInvest's largest asset. The refinery processes gasoline, diesel fuel, jet fuel, bitumen and fuel oil. Annual capacity is 5.76 million tonnes of petroleum products.
