Belarusian govt approves draft agreement with Russia on common electricity market rules

MINSK. Aug 10 (Interfax) - The Belarusian government has approved a draft agreement between the Belarusian and Russian energy ministries approving the operating rules for the Union State's common electricity market as a basis for negotiations, the Belarusian government press service said.

The Belarusian prime minister signed a resolution on the matter.

"The resolution was drafted in exercise of Law No. 114-Z of the Republic of Belarus dated December 9, 2025 on Ratification of the Treaty between the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation on the Formation of a Common Electricity Market of the Union State. The law delegates authority to manage and operate the unified electricity market to the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade," the press service said.

The Belarusian Energy Ministry is mandated to sign the operating rules for the Union State's common electricity market.
