EAEU countries' heads of govt approve agreement regulating online trade within union

CHOLPON-ATA. Aug 7 (Interfax) - The agreement on electronic trade in goods within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) has been approved by the heads of government of the organization's member countries following a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council.

At the beginning of this year, the draft agreement was approved by the board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC). The document aims to establish common rules for conducting online trade in the EAEU's internal market, create predictable regulation for businesses throughout the union's territory, enable the use of electronic document flow and reduce administrative burdens and financial costs, the EEC previously said.

From the perspective of consumers, the agreement means the application of uniform norms for the protection of their rights, that information security is ensured and personal data is protected, and that spam mailings are limited.
