Beltamozhservice to collaborate with port of Bronka to develop Belarusian exports

MINSK. Aug 6 (Interfax) - Beltamozhservice, Belarus's largest logistics operator, has signed a cooperation agreement on export development with the St. Petersburg-based multifunctional sea cargo handling complex Bronka, the operator's press service said on Thursday.

Beltamozhservice is expanding its capabilities and offering an efficient multimodal route through the Bronka multifunctional sea cargo-handling complex in St. Petersburg.

"The new agreement provides Beltamozhservice RUE with full access to the infrastructure of one of the most dynamically developing ports in the Baltic region," according to the statement.

As noted, the company's specialists will be able to freely dispatch vehicles to the port's restricted area and utilize its full range of cargo handling facilities.

"This allows us to reduce transit times and handle both general and bulk cargo, as well as container shipments," Beltamozhservice added.

Beltamozhservice RUE is the national logistics operator of Belarus and a major exporter of goods from Belarusian manufacturers. The operator actively utilizes Russian ports in its multimodal logistics. The company was founded by the State Customs Committee of Belarus.

The Bronka Multipurpose Cargo Terminal is located on the southern coast of the Gulf of Finland within the boundaries of the Big Port of St. Petersburg, where the dam and the ring road adjoin the city of Lomonosov. The Bronka Port comprises three specialized complexes: a container terminal, a ro-ro terminal, and a logistics center.

According to the terminal's website, the current throughput capacity of the Bronka Multipurpose Cargo Terminal is 500,000 twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) containers and 130,000 ro-ro units per year. Future plans include increasing container handling capacity to 1.9 million TEU per year and ro-ro capacity to 200,000 units per year.
