Tajikistan, Belarus to draft roadmap for cooperation in transport in 2027-2030

DUSHANBE. Aug 6 (Interfax) - Tajikistan and Belarus will work out a roadmap for cooperation in the transport sector for 2027-2030 under an agreement reached at a meeting between Tajik Deputy Transport Minister Shoista Saidmurodzoda and Belarusian Deputy Transport and Communication Minister Sergei Matsukov.

The meeting was held as part of the XIX session of the Tajik-Belarusian Intergovernmental Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation in Brest, Tajikistan's Transport Ministry said.

The parties agreed to introduce a system for exchanging e-permits for international trucking as soon as possible. The implementation of this mechanism will make it possible to fully digitalize the permit exchange process, ensure transparent use of permits, cut red tape, reduce the influence of the human factor, increase the efficiency of state control and create more favorable working conditions for truckers from both countries, the ministry said.

The introduction of e-permits will also make it possible to bring national procedures in line with international standards for digitalization of transport services, it said.

The officials also discussed the joint promotion of an international transport corridor to reach European markets. They believe the development of such a route will help diversify international supply chains, increase the stability of cargo traffic, reduce delivery times and transport costs, and more efficiently use the transit potential of Tajikistan and Belarus, the ministry said.

They also discussed sharing know-how in the digitalization of the transport sector, introduction of smart transport systems, transport management platforms and the development of transport and logistics infrastructure in line with international standards.

The countries agreed to draft a cooperation roadmap for 2027-2030 that they plan to discuss at a meeting of their joint transport commission.

Participants in the meeting of the intergovernmental commission meeting in Brest discussed prospects for developing trade, economic, investment and interregional cooperation, as well as collaboration in industrial cooperation, agriculture, transport and logistics, communications, digitalization, the light and pharmaceutical industries and the social sector.
