Tokayev, Pashinyan reaffirm commitment to deeper Kazakh-Armenian cooperation in phone call

ASTANA. Aug 4 (Interfax) - Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has called Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to congratulate him on his reappointment to the post and wish him success in his public duties, the Kazakh presidential press service said on Tuesday.

"The parties praised positive dynamics in the development of Kazakh-Armenian relations and reaffirmed their commitment to deepening multifaceted cooperation between the two countries," the press service said.

Tokayev and Pashinyan discussed the implementation of agreements, including those reached during the Armenian prime minister's official visit to Astana last November.

"Special attention was paid to expanding cooperation in the trade, economic, transport, logistics, and cultural and humanitarian sectors," it said.

Pashinyan thanked Tokayev for his congratulation and wished "the president and the people of Kazakhstan a successful election to the Kurultai," it said.

Pashinyan was reappointed prime minister of Armenia on Monday, based on the outcomes of the June 7 parliamentary elections, in which the Civil Contract party led by Pashinyan garnered over 49.7% of the vote, allowing it to single-handedly form a new government.
