Russia becomes biggest investor in Kazakhstan's economy - Tokayev

ASTANA. July 27 (Interfax) - Russia is now the biggest investor in Kazakhstan's economy, with Russian investments totaling almost $30 billion, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.

"We are very big trading partners. In 2025 our trade stood at around $28 billion, and this year's trend has been extremely positive. Compared with the [first] five months of 2025 these five months showed a good growth in bilateral trade. As for investments, Russia is coming first among investors in our economy. The volume of investments has reached nearly $30 billion," Tokayev was quoted by his press service as telling Russian President Vladimir Putin at their meeting in Omsk on Saturday.

With combined efforts, a pool of 177 promising industrial projects was selected, 122 of them now completed, he said.

"And the volume of those 177 projects totals $53 billion. That is a considerable volume, given the tough geopolitical conditions nowadays," Tokayev said.
