Belarusian president wishes to increase trade with Uzbekistan to $2 billion

MINSK. July 24 (Interfax) - Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has congratulated Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on his birthday and expressed intention to bring trade between the two countries to $2 billion.

"I am confident that the fundamentally new approaches to joint work we have agreed upon, along with the signed roadmap for cooperation for 2026-2030, will help achieve the main ambitious goal of raising bilateral trade to $2 billion," Lukashenko said in his telegram of congratulations.

He noted Mirziyoyev's significant role in the resolution of both internal and external issues for the benefit of his country.

"Your multifaceted and constructive work as president commands the highest respect, and Uzbekistan's achievements in carrying out effective reforms, modernizing the economy, and enhancing its standing on the world stage are a natural result of your dedicated service to the Fatherland," Lukashenko said.

He also said that he highly values his friendly relations with Mirziyoyev and recalled his recent visit to Belarus with special warmth.

"The talks confirmed the mutual interest of Minsk and Tashkent in expanding strategic partnership," he said.
