Kazakhstan boosts grain exports 12.5% to 13.5 mln tonnes since start of agricultural year

ASTANA. July 23 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan has exported 13.5 million tonnes of grain since the start of the September 2025-August 2026 agricultural year, up 12.5% from 12 million tonnes in the same period last year, the Agriculture Ministry said.

The biggest increases were in shipments to Central Asia and Afghanistan.

Exports to Uzbekistan rose 37% to 5.6 million tonnes, to Kyrgyzstan increased 40% to 504,000 tonnes, to Afghanistan grew 59% to 2.2 million tonnes, and to Turkmenistan rose 34% to 210,000 tonnes.

The ministry had earlier projected grain exports for the current agricultural year at 13 million tonnes, roughly unchanged from the previous year.

The Grain Union of Kazakhstan earlier raised its grain export forecast for the current agricultural year from 13.6 million tonnes to 14.3 million tonnes, or a 5% increase.

In 2025, Kazakhstan increased grain production by 2% to 27 million tonnes, with yields of 1.7 tonnes per hectare, up from 1.6 tonnes per hectare in 2024.
