Moscow Exchange tops 2100 on news of meeting between Lavrov, Rubio on July 23 in Manila

MOSCOW. July 22 (Interfax) - The Russian stock market, which had declined early after two days of corrective gains, had resumed growth by midday on Wednesday, reacting positively to the news that a meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio had been agreed and would take place on July 23 in Manila.

The Moscow Exchange index has topped 2100 points in anticipation of geopolitical news from the meeting.

Lavrov said that he would meet with Rubio in Manila on July 23. "The meeting with Rubio has already been agreed," Lavrov said at a press conference in Manila, adding that the meeting would take place on Thursday morning.
