Uzbekistan preparing new privatization program, plans to sell real estate totaling over $8 bln
TASHKENT. July 22 (Interfax) - Uzbekistan's government is preparing a new privatization program and is planning to put 1,300 real estate properties totaling UZS 100 trillion (approximately $8.34 billion) up for sale, presidential press secretary Sherzod Asadov posted on social media, noting that the new program includes the privatization of 8,000 hectares of land and state shares in 66 enterprises.
The down payment is planned to be reduced from 30% to 15% for entrepreneurs acquiring state assets, and the remaining amount will be allowed to be paid in interest-free installments.
As previously reported, Fitch Ratings estimates that approximately $5.1 billion worth of state assets were privatized in Uzbekistan between 2021 and 2025, including $1.6 billion in 2025.
