Dutch entrepreneurial development bank FMO lends Georgia's Microbank Crystal $20 mln

MOSCOW. July 20 (Interfax) - Georgia's Microbank Crystal has signed an agreement with Dutch entrepreneurial development bank FMO on a credit of $200 million, the bank said.

The facility, provided in the local currency equivalent, will be used to finance micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) across Georgia," it said.

In addition to the financing, the partnership includes a technical assistance component that will support Crystal's institutional development through the implementation of key strategic projects.

Founded in 2007, Georgia, Crystal officially received its microbank license from the National Bank of Georgia in 2025. The bank operates under simplified rules and can issue small loans in national currency, up to the equivalent of $20,000. Crystal's loan portfolio is the equivalent of more than $230 million, and the microbank serves over 100,000 borrowers, more than half of whom live in rural areas.

The international rating agency Fitch affirmed Crystal's rating at "B" with "stable" outlook in August 2025,
