Minsk interested in strengthening cooperation with Arab League states - Lukashenko

MINSK. July 20 (Interfax) - Belarus is interested in closer cooperation with the Arab League states, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said at a meeting with Arab Parliament Chairman Mohammed Ahmed Al-Yamahi.

"Belarus is interested in strengthening the practical dimension in cooperation with the countries included in the Arab League," the presidential press service quoted Lukashenko as saying.

Lukashenko said at the meeting with Al-Yamahi that he personally has long-standing good relations with the administrations of many states within the organization, including those whose representatives have come to visit Belarus.

"We have a considerable foundation for strengthening our relations - a peaceful approach to resolving any issues and resolving all issues diplomatically at the negotiation table," Lukashenko said.

The delegation of the Arab Parliament that has arrived in Minsk comprises representatives of the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Libya and Jordan, the press service said. The Arab Parliament is a legislative body of the Arab League. It comprises 22 states of the Middle East and North and East Africa.
