Kremlin says had no contacts with U.S. in recent days

MOSCOW. July 20 (Interfax) - The Kremlin has had no direct contacts with U.S. representatives in recent days but would welcome possible contacts between the two foreign policy chiefs, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

"No, there have been no contacts at our level in recent days," Peskov told reporters in response to a question on the matter on Monday.

Commenting on U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio's remarks about a possible meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during ASEAN events in the Philippines later this week, Peskov said, "There certainly have been mostly technical contacts at the level of the Foreign Ministry, at the level of the diplomatic agencies, but if there is a contact at the level of foreign ministers, we would only welcome it."
