Thailand one of Kazakhstan's key partners in Southeast Asia - Kazakh president

ASTANA. July 17 (Interfax) - Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev proposed intensifying trade and economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Thailand at a meeting with Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul in Shanghai.

Kazakhstan views Thailand as one of its key partners in Southeast Asia, Tokayev said.

The Kazakh president said he highly rates economic cooperation prospects, with bilateral trade growing 76% YoY to over $110 million in the first four months of 2026.

This figure can be increased significantly, first and foremost, through deliveries of agricultural products and developing tourism, he said.

Charnvirakul, for his part, reaffirmed Thailand's interest in enhancing cooperation with Kazakhstan on a wide range of issues of mutual interest.

Tokayev also invited Charnvirakul to pay an official visit to Kazakhstan.
