Kazakhstan not supplying oil to Germany in July, Aug - ministry

ASTANA. July 17 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan will not deliver crude oil to Germany via the Druzhba pipeline in July and August, the Energy Ministry said Friday, citing technical constraints on the transit route.

"Kazakh oil shipments to Germany via the Atyrau-Samara-Druzhba pipeline have been temporarily halted due to infrastructure constraints on the transit route," the ministry said, adding that no exports are planned for July and August.

The ministry said Kazakhstan views the situation as "temporary" and "remains committed to diversifying its oil export routes to European markets."

Russia suspended transit of Kazakh oil through the Druzhba system toward Germany in May. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak told reporters at the time that the move was tied to technical constraints and that Kazakh crude previously routed to Germany would be redirected to other available logistics corridors starting May 1.

Kazakhstan had planned to ship around 3 million tonnes of oil to Germany via Druzhba in 2026. From January through April it delivered 1.02 million tonnes through the pipeline. Shipments in 2025 totaled 2.1 million tonnes.
