Turkmenistan's GDP up 6.3% in H1 2026

ASHGABAT. July 13 (Interfax) - Turkmenistan's GDP increased 6.3% in H1 2026, Deputy Prime Minister Hojamyrat Geldimyradov said.

Geldimyradov oversees the financial and banking sector of the country's economy.

Geldimyradov reported on the macroeconomic indicators of the national economy for 6M 2026 at an expanded meeting of the cabinet, the newspaper Neutral Turkmenistan said.

"The growth rate of Turkmenistan's GDP for the designated period amounted to 6.3%, including 2.7% in the industrial sector, 6.7% in construction, 10.4% in the transport and communications sector, 8.5% in trade, 2% in agriculture and 8.4% in the services sector," Geldimyradov said.

Retail trade increased 10.1% and foreign trade turnover grew 7.5%.

As of July 1, 2026, the revenue plan of the 2026 state budget was exceeded 2.1%, while expenditures were 2.6% below plan, Finance and Economy Minister Mammetguly Astanagulov reported during the meeting.

Investments disbursed from all sources of financing and directed to the development of the country's economy increased 4.3% year-on-year in January-June and amounted to 16.5% of GDP, he said. Of the total disbursed capital investments, 45.1% was directed to the construction of production facilities and 54.9% to the construction of socio-cultural facilities.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who spoke at the government meeting, noted that in accordance with Turkmenistan's program of socio-economic development and the investment program for 2026, the country disbursed capital investments in the amount of 18.6 billion manat ($5.3 billion at the current exchange rate) in H1 2026, up 4.3% compared to the same period last year.

As reported, Turkmenistan's GDP exceeded $77.4 billion in 2025, increasing 6.3%.
