Gazprom regularly exceeding gas supply obligations to China shows demand for Russian gas - CEO

MOSCOW. June 26 (Interfax) - The fact that contractual obligations for gas supplies to China are exceeded on a regular basis speaks to the high level of confidence in and demand for Russian gas on the Chinese market, Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller said in a report at the gas giant's annual shareholder meeting.

Russia exported 38.84 billion cubic meters of gas to China through the Power of Siberia pipeline in 2025, 0.84 bcm more than planned. Exports in 2024 and 2023 totaled 31.12 bcm and 22.73 bcm, respectively, which was also more than the initially planned 30 bcm and 22 bcm.

"The annual exceedance of contractual obligations speaks to the high level of confidence and demand for Russian gas on the Chinese market," Miller said.

He recalled that Gazprom has become the leading supplier of gas to China, which he called the "most promising market in the world."

Gas exports to China along the new Far Eastern route are supposed to begin in January 2027, Miller said.
