Belarus building oilseed processing plant with annual capacity of 1.5 mln tonnes with EDB support

MINSK. June 25 (Interfax) - Belarus is building a high-tech oilseed processing plant using funds from the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB), EDB Chairman Nikolai Podguzov said.

"EDB projects in Belarus are helping to create a new form of high-value added industry and ensure food security. With the bank's support, a new high-tech oilseed processing plant geared towards exports is now being built. After the project is implemented, the plant's overall capacity will exceed 1.5 million tonnes per year. This is one of the biggest plants in the whole of the Eurasian region," Podguzov was quoted as saying by state news publication Belarus Today at an annual meeting and business forum of the bank in Almaty.

Podguzov also said that Belarus was a leading exporter of processed products to Eurasia. "This includes not only food, but also a wide range of industrial products," he said.
