Agreements worth $12 bln signed during Tokayev's visit to Brussels

ASTANA. June 23 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan and the European Union have signed commercial agreements worth over $12 billion during Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's official visit to Brussels, his press service said in a statement on Tuesday.

In Brussels, Tokayev met with EU and European Investment Bank officials, it said.

"President stressed that the visit's economic component, including the signing of the commercial agreements and memorandum worth over $12 billion, also demonstrates the European business confident in Kazakhstan's economy and current reform process," the statement said.

The visit opens a new chapter in EU-Kazakhstan relations, EU Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security Maros Sefcovic said.

"He noted that the important commercial agreements signed during the current visit were the result of many years' joint efforts to strengthen trade and economic cooperation," the statement said.
