No reason to doubt Russia's economic stability - Peskov
MOSCOW. June 23 (Interfax) - Volatility in the oil markets is affecting the Russian economy, but its stability is ensured, Dmitry Peskov, the Russian president's spokesman, said.
"The Russian economy's stability is ensured, macroeconomic stability is absolutely ensured, and nobody has any cause to doubt it," Peskov told reporters.
"Yes, the global energy market situation is extremely volatile, it affects all countries, but there can be no reason for any doubt about macroeconomic stability in our country at present," he said.
Peskov said Russian President Vladimir Putin had spoken repeatedly about the Russian economy's stability at economic meetings and that Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin had told him the same.
"As for oil market volatility, yes, this is so and it affects the whole global economy one way or another, and it affects our economy, too. Oil revenue still makes a substantial contribution to our country's budget, but the share of non-oil revenue is nonetheless growing," Peskov said.
