Kazakhstan's Alpecon Group launches $19.5-mln fruit and vegetable processing plant

ASTANA. June 22 (Interfax) - The Qazaq Global Food JV plant, part of Kazakhstan's Alpecon Group that specializes in fruit and vegetable processing, has begun operations in the Almaty Region, the regional governor's press service said.

Investments in the plant totaled 9.5 billion tenge [$19.5 million at the current exchange rate]. The agro-industry's production capacity is 70,000 tonnes of product per year. In the first phase, the 70,000 tonnes of processed raw materials are planned to produce 13,000 tonnes of fruit and vegetable juice concentrates, purees, and pastes per year. All products will be exported to Turkey.

A groundbreaking ceremony for Alpecon Group's second facility took place alongside the launch of the first plant, the press service said. The second phase of the project involves the production of pectin from apple waste. The facility plans to produce 1,000 tonnes of pectin and 3,000 tonnes of apple fiber annually to be exported to South Korea and Japan.

Turkey's Goknur Gıda is the project's strategic partner.

Alpecon Group CEO Samat Balabaykov said in the press release that the first full-cycle agro-industry cluster in Kazakhstan is planned to be established by 2028, combining raw material production, digital technologies, specialist training, scientific research, and exports. The project will establish product collection points across the country, and is expected to involve up to 10,000 farmers and around 500,000 agricultural workers.

The press release notes that this enterprise is currently unique in Kazakhstan.

Established in 2024, Alpecon Group is an agro-industry company that implements advanced processing projects for fruit and vegetables in Kazakhstan.
