Moscow Exchange to launch trading in futures on South Korean market in July
ST. PETERSBURG. June 22 (Interfax) - The Moscow Exchange plans to launch trading in futures on the iShares MSCI South Korea ETF on July 9, Managing Director of the trading platform's derivatives market Maria Patrikeyeva said.
"We are launching futures on the iShares MSCI South Korea ETF [exchange traded funds], which is a tool that grants investors immediate access to the broad South Korean market. The fund comprises 81 companies, including Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix," Patrikeyeva told reporters on the sidelines of the Smart-Lab conference.
Additionally, the MOEX plans to launch separate futures trading for shares of Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix on July 16.
"These are two key South Korean technology companies at the center of the global trend of semiconductors, memory, and AI," Patrikeyeva said.
"Investors will be able to choose to trade in South Korea as a country-specific idea through ETF or focus on the largest technology leaders," Patrikeyeva said.
