Uralmashzavod becomes co-owner of Rosatom's shipbuilding company
YEKATERINBURG. June 18 (Interfax) - PJSC Uralmashzavod (Yekaterinburg) has become the owner of 50% of Energoflot Murmansk LLC (part of Rosatom Group), which specializes in implementing large shipbuilding projects.
The corresponding information was entered into the Unified State Register of Legal Entities on June 16.
Uralmashzavod's press service declined to comment on the deal to Interfax.
Energoflot Murmansk was established by Rosatom Mechanical Engineering LLC in April 2025, with a charter capital of 165.628 million rubles.
Rosatom previously said that the new structure was created as part of exploring the possibility of expanding the Atomflot federal state unitary enterprise, including for the tasks of servicing floating power units.
The world's first floating nuclear power plant was the Academic Lomonosov FNPP in Pevek, launched in 2020. Currently, Rosatom is implementing the first serial project - the construction of four floating power units for the Baimskaya ore zone.
Rosatom CEO Alexei Likhachev previously said that a number of countries are showing interest in FNPP projects, which is pushing the state corporation to make two types of floating nuclear plants - northern and southern versions. In particular, at the 2025 St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Rosatom Deputy General Director Andrei Nikipelov spoke about Rosatom's proposal to Indonesia to begin developing nuclear energy in the country with floating power units.
In addition, in 2018, Rosatom received the functions of the operator for developing Northern Sea Route infrastructure, including the nuclear icebreaker fleet.
According to the company's website, Energoflot Murmansk designs, constructs and modernizes vessels.
PJSC Uralmashzavod specializes in producing equipment for the mining industry, metallurgy and nuclear energy. The enterprise is part of UZTM-Kartex Group.
