Russia boosts agro exports to ASEAN countries 5% to $251 mln in Jan-May - Agroexport

MOSCOW. June 17 (Interfax) - Russia boosted exports 5% year-on-year to $251 million worth of agricultural products to the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries in January-May, the Agriculture Ministry's Agroexport center said.

The largest importers of Russian products in the region were Thailand (37%), Vietnam (36%), the Philippines (12%), Indonesia, and Cambodia (7% each).

"Meantime, the potential for cooperation remains significantly higher than current trade volumes. Key objectives include raising business awareness of partner opportunities, developing direct business contacts, and improving the transport and logistics infrastructure between Russia and the countries of the region," according to the statement.

The fifth Russia-ASEAN summit is being held in Kazan from June 17-19, marking the 35th anniversary of the establishment of relations between Russia and the countries of the ASEAN.
