Azerbaijan agrees to export poultry meat, seafood products to China

BAKU. June 15 (Interfax) - Azerbaijan plans to export poultry and seafood products to China, Azerbaijan's Food Safety Agency said.

According to the agency, Goshgar Tahmazli, head of the agency, and Sun Meijun, head of China's General Administration of Customs (GAC), have signed protocols regulating supplies of poultry and seafood from Azerbaijan to the Chinese market.

"The documents establish requirements for inspection, quarantine, and food safety for the supply of poultry, seafood products, and wild aquatic bio-resources. The protocols create a legal basis for exports and open new opportunities for Azerbaijani entrepreneurs," according to the statement.

The parties to the talks in China also discussed expanding access for Azerbaijani agricultural products to the Chinese market, as well as digitalization, mutual recognition of certification, and cooperation in food safety.

Tahmazli also met with Luo Wen, Minister of the State Administration for Market Regulation.

"The parties discussed bolstering government oversight, as well as implementing effective inspection systems and digital transformation," according to the statement.
