Armenia appeals to EEC regarding exports of domestic products to Russia - Armenian economic minister
YEREVAN. June 11 (Interfax) - Armenia has appealed to the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) over barriers to exporting its goods to Russia, Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan said.
"We have appealed to the EEC to review the barriers and restrictions imposed on us. The EEC has procedures, and we follow them," Papoyan told reporters on Thursday.
As reported, Russia's Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) imposed a ban on flower shipments from Armenia on May 22. Rosselkhoznadzor has also imposed temporary restrictions on importing fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, green vegetables, and strawberries from Armenia since May 30. Russia's plant and animal health watchdog has also imposed temporary restrictions on importing cherries, sweet cherries, apricots, plums, peaches, and nectarines, as well as grapes since June 2. Rosselkhoznadzor has further imposed temporary restrictions on importing pome fruit, eggplants, potatoes, and dried fruits from Armenia since June 3. Furthermore, Rosselkhoznadzor has reported that Armenia must suspend certification of live fish and fish products intended for export to Russia as of June 2.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan previously called the ban on exporting certain types of Armenian products to Russia incorrect and politicized.
